IRCDL is a yearly deadline for Italian researchers on Digital Libraries related topics. This year the focus of IRCDL is on information access and interoperability, in fact Digital Library Systems start to be mature, but it is time to give a more effective and personalized access to information to users and to improve interoperability among different available systems. Specific attention needs also to be given to organizational aspects for producing advanced access to really interoperable systems.
The IRCDL conferences have been launched and initially sponsored by DELOS, an EU FP6 Network of Excellence on digital libraries, together with the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua. Over the years IRCDL has become a self sustainable event that is sponsored by the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua and by the Italian Digital Libraries Community.
Relevant topics for IRCDL 2010 are related to the different aspects that need to be taken into account to support Information Access and Interoperability.
Topics include but are not limited to:
System Interoperability and Data Integration
Multilingual Information Access
Metadata Creation and Management
Search Engines for Digital Library Systems
Evaluation and Log Data
Handling Audio/Visual and Non-traditional Objects
User Interfaces and Visualization
Accepted papers in PDF will be published in on-line proceedings (max 12 pages) at the time of the conference and presented at the conference.
The deadline of submission of papers has been postponed to the final date of Monday 21st December 2009.
Preparation of a paper submission: Authors have to refer to Authors Instructions of the Springer-Verlag LNCS Proceedings, each paper submission must not exceed 12 pages in the LNCS format.
After the presentation at the conference the authors are invited to submit a revised version of the paper for a possible inclusion in the volume of post-proceedings. The revised version of each paper needs to take into account the suggestions and the comments received during the discussion at the conference; the revised versions are going to be reviewed by at least three reviewers.
The post-proceedings volume will contain the revised accepted papers.
The IRCDL 2010 post-proceedings volume is going to be published in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series of Springer.
